CHELSIE NASH

Chelsie Nash is a theatre maker from Dumfries in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Chelsie is a performer and writer, with experience in hosting, modelling and producing. She has a keen interest in a variety of genres - recently focussing on comedy - and specialises in short one-woman shows and family entertainment.

Politically motivated, Chelsie's work aims to engage young people about current social and political issues. She gained recognition for her short character performances in 2019 as a regular at local monthly open-mic night 'Brave New Words', which involved story-telling, comedy and poetry.

Chelsie is fascinated by the spectacle found in the mundane, exploring microcosms of British society and amplifying marginalised voices.

Chelsie has been involved in a variety of local projects across Dumfries and Galloway. In 2020, she played the role of Bridgette in the online audio play 'Lowland' by Martin O'Neill with the Stove Network. She performed her one-woman show 'Here for a Laugh' in Castle Douglas as part of Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival 2021, and in 2022 she was commissioned by the Festival again to host their 'Gathering' Events in Stranraer and Dumfries.

Recently, Chelsie has delved deeper into the world of poetry, performing at the Loud Poets x Brave New Words crossover event in Dumfries in May 2022. Afterwards, she was invited by Loud Poets to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe at one of their 'Best of the Fringe' shows in August 2022.

Chelsie has been modelling locally since 2019. She regularly models for local shop Circle Vintage, and in October 2022, put her modelling and hosting skills together while co-hosting Dumfries Slow Fashion Movements 'Rock for Re:Dress' Fashion Show. She also does hair modelling for local hairdresser Nelson Brown. In addition to this, she has recently been involved in life modelling for art classes at Gracefield Arts Centre, Dumfries.

She is currently working at Moat Brae House in Dumfries as a Story Weaver, where she works creatively creating and portraying a variety of characters for guests, as well as writing and devising shows, facilitating workshops and organising events. With two years experience at Moat Brae, Chelsie has developed skill in improvisation and working with children.
